What makes Prosewell different from other writing apps?
Prosewell is specifically designed for long-form prose like novels and memoirs. Unlike generic text editors, it seamlessly connects your manuscript editor, story beat outline, and world compendium into a unified studio. Crucially, we intentionally do not include AI ghostwriting tools—the AI is here to assist your writing, not replace it.
Is there a free version?
We offer a 7-day free trial so you can experience the full power of Prosewell. After the trial, plans start at just $9/month for Basic and $29/month for Pro.
How does the AI allowance work?
Every subscription includes a weekly allowance of AI reading—150,000 words a week on Basic and 450,000 on Pro. That is one full manuscript of any length plus the week's edits on Basic, and three of them on Pro. The allowance rolls: it refills a little each day as older reading ages out, rather than all at once on a billing date.
Who owns my writing?
You do. 100%. We claim no rights to your work. You can export your work at any time.
Are my manuscripts and drafts private?
Yes, your writing is completely private. No one else has access to your manuscripts or drafts—not even our team. Your work is secure, confidential, and for your eyes only.
Do you use my writing to train AI?
Absolutely not. We use paid, enterprise-grade APIs that strictly prohibit training on your data. Your writing remains private and is never used to improve our models or the models of our AI partners.
How does the AI editor work?
Our agentic AI Editor works in two key ways: First, it acts as a studio assistant that keeps your manuscript, story beat outline, and compendium in sync—flagging continuity drifts whenever character or world details mismatch. Second, it provides developmental editorial feedback on your prose, outline pacing, and gaps in character backstories.
